Friday 30 June

D263_DSC_0223_WTH_cropped V2.jpg

WELCOME

Speech Day is a uniquely special occasion in the School's calendar which reminds us how capable our pupils are and how proud we are of their achievements. Today is a time for the whole community to come together and celebrate what makes Uppingham so special.

This morning, we will embrace the opportunity to recognise the remarkable academic, sporting, and co-curricular accomplishments of our pupils. It is also our chance to thank the teachers, parents, and other members of the school community who have given so much to enrich our pupils’ lives.

CONGREGATIONAL HYMN

Mine Eyes Have Seen the Glory

Melody by J. W. Steffe (c. 1859)

Descant by R. Allwood (b. 1950)

Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;

He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;

He hath loosed the fateful lightning of his terrible swift sword;

His truth is marching on.

Glory, glory, Alleluia! Glory, glory, Alleluia!

Glory, glory Alleluia! His truth is marching on.

He has sounded forth the trumpet that shall never call retreat;

He is sifting out the hearts of men before his judgement-seat.

O be swift, my soul, to answer him; be jubilant, my feet!

Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, Alleluia! Glory, glory, Alleluia!

Glory, glory Alleluia! His truth is marching on.

He is coming like the glory of the morning on the wave;

He is wisdom to the mighty; he is succour to the brave.

So the world shall be his footstool, and the soul of time his slave.

Our God is marching on.

Glory, glory, Alleluia! Glory, glory, Alleluia!

Glory, glory Alleluia! His truth is marching on.
